2007-2008 Audition Information
Cantoria is a select, sixty-five voice ensemble conducted by
Dr. Mark Jennings. Cantoria performs
choral literature from the sixteenth century to the present, with an emphasis on
a cappella works. Special attention is given to authenticity of stylistic
performance in each of the periods and styles represented. Cantoria goes on a
five-day tour each spring and on international tours every two to three years.
Members of Cantoria pursue diverse academic subjects across campus, with
approximately sixty-percent of its members studying music as a major.

The choir has a tradition of excellence and has received many honors, including
invitations to perform at Missouri Music Educators Association (MMEA) state
conventions and at regional conventions of the American Choral Directors
Association (ACDA) and Music Educators National Conference (MENC). Most
recently, Cantoria performed at the 2001 ACDA Southwestern Division Convention
in Houston, Texas and the 2007 MMEA State Convention in Osage Beach, Missouri.

Cantoria has traveled to cities such as Minneapolis, Chicago, St. Louis, and
Kansas City on recent domestic tours, giving concerts at high schools, colleges,
and churches. Recent international tours have included Australia, Central
Europe, England and Russia.
