Thomas Hueber, tenor, has been a member of the music faculty at Truman State University since the fall of 1989 where he is now Professor of Voice and Coordinator of Vocal Studies. His teaching duties include applied voice: Italian, French and German diction; vocal pedagogy; and Opera Workshop. He attended Wheaton College (IL) where he graduated with a degree in vocal performance and went on to complete both the Master's degree and the Doctorate in vocal performance at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor where he studied with George Shirley, Leslie Guinn, Martin Katz, Gustav Meier, and Jay Lesenger. For two summers he performed at the Aspen Music Festival's Opera Theater Center. Dr. Hueber has performed major roles in such operas as Cosi fan tutte, The Magic Flute, The Impresario, The Merry Widow, La Rondine, Falstaff, Albert Herring, A Midsummer Night's Dream, and The Turn of the Screw. He is also active as a soloist performing in both recitals and oratorios throughout the Midwest. Some of Dr. Hueber's students have pursued graduate studies at institutions such as The Juilliard School, The Curtis Institute, The Hartt School of Music, and the University of Michigan. Several former students have embarked upon successful professional singing careers, performing with ensembles such as Chanticleer, The Dale Warland Singers, and The Kansas City Chorale. While others have appeared with opera companies such as New York City Opera, Minnesota Opera, Opera Theatre of St. Louis, The Kansas City Lyric Opera, and Chautauqua Opera.
