All Truman students, including incoming students, are eligible for Music Service Scholarships based on a Music Audition. In the case of equal ability between two candidates, preferences will be given to music majors. For additional information regarding music scholarship availability, contact the Music Department at (888) 869-3197 or music@truman.edu . To be eligible for an Endowed Music Scholarship at Truman, students must be currently enrolled at Truman and have declared music as their major.
Band Scholarships
Truman State University offers scholarships in the
Band Area to both
music majors and non-music majors. These scholarships are in place to ensure a
pool of the finest wind and percussion performers are members of the Wind
Symphony, Brass Choir, Jazz Ensembles, Clarinet Choir, and Percussion Ensembles.
There are normally 12-15 of these scholarships available each year and they
range in value from $500-$1500. Earning one of these awards requires a
Music Audition
that can be performed until April 1 of each year. The audition days for 2010 are
January 23, February 12 & 13 (in conjunction with the Honor Band Festival) and
March 20. Please contact Dan Peterson (pete@truman.edu)
or the Music Department at (660) 785-4417 or (888) 869-3197 for
additional information. Visit

Its members receive an $1800 stipend in addition to their orchestra scholarship.
The Karl Webb Endowed Scholarship is a $1000 one-year scholarship awarded to an
incoming string music major. String music majors on scholarship are required to
enroll for the University Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra and a private lesson.
String students with scholarships who are not music majors would be
