Meet the Studio

Made up of about twenty clarinetists, the Truman Clarinet Choir
rehearses once a week during clarinet studio class and performs at
least once a semester. The ensemble plays literature
specifically composed for the clarinet choir, as well as
transcriptions of well-known works by composers like Mozart, Bach,
Debussy, and Rimsky-Korsakov.
In 2007, the
Truman Clarinet Choir commissioned and premiered a new piece by Dr. Robert
Martin for the Truman New Music Festival. Recently, a new clarinet choir
piece entitled The Shaman Speaks, which was composed by Dr. Vivian Fung,
music faculty at Juilliard, was premiered by the ensemble at the 2009 Truman New Music Festival.
The group also performs for the community, including concerts at local
elementary schools and assisted living centers.
