Music Alumnus Receives Glowing Review

In a recent Washington Times review, Truman music alumnus Dominic Armstrong was praised for his performance in John Gay’s 18th-century Beggar’s Opera during the brand new Castleton Festival, directed by Lorin Maazel, who recently retired as the New York Philharmonic’s music director.  T. L. Ponick wrote, “Tenor Dominic Armstrong was phenomenal as Macheath, the opera’s central character. His broadly comic acting style was perfect for the role, and his crystal-clear, magnificent tenor voice predicts a great future ahead.”  Armstrong graduated from Truman in 2002 with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance, and also studied at the Juilliard School and the Curtis Institute.  To read the entire review, go to:  http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2009/jul/07/opera-pitch-perfect-beggars/
