Support the Music Department

at Truman State University

The Music Department must provide students with the tools needed to fulfill their artistic potential. To carry out that responsibility, we need your help. Listed below are a few examples of our department’s current needs:

  • Increased music scholarship opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students
  • Funding for concert series, master classes, lectures, and demonstrations
  • Instruments and music stands for ensembles (including instrument maintenance)
  • Sophisticated electronic equipment for music composition, recording, and performance
  • Funding for undergraduate, graduate and faculty research
  • Collections of CDs, DVDs, books and music scores
  • Computers, printers, scanners, and projectors for the music department

In addition to the needs listed above, the Truman Music Department also has several funds toward which alumni and friends could contribute.  For a current listing, see Fine Arts Funds.

Donors may wish to establish a named, endowed fund in their name or the name of someone they wish to honor.  Endowed funds are created with a minimum gift commitment of $15,000.  The Truman State University Foundation has established an investment and spending policy with the intent of providing income for these funds in perpetuity, while protecting and growing the principal.  A portion of the fund’s earnings are awarded for the fund’s designated annual purpose; remaining earnings are reinvested to maintain the fund’s purchasing power in the future.

Gifts of all levels are encouraged and appreciated.  Gifts to the Music Department can be made through:
